You might be wondering about how many cities are in Abuja? the F.C.T of Nigeria.
However, Abuja itself is a city that have been divided into three other phases.
Those three phases are phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3. Each phase has five districts except phase 3 which has four districts.
In addition, there are also five suburban districts that build up the list of Cities in Abuja with other nine satellite settlements.
In this article, I will be listing all the phases and how many cities in Abuja contain in each.
However, districts are considered as a part of the city because it subdivided the main Abuja city into a different part with residential and commercial use.
Now let me tell you what each phase are and how each district is been called.

Phase 1
This phase contains five districts which are;
- The Central District
- Garki District
- Wuse District
- Maitama District
- Asokoro District
However, more detail about these districts will be written down in this article after the listing.
Phase 2
Phase 2 contains five districts which are;
- Kado District
- Durum District
- Gudu District
- Utako District
- Jabi District
Phrase 3
Phase 3 contains four districts which are;
- Mabuchi District
- Katampe District
- Wuye District
- Gwarimpa District
Suburban districts
There are five suburban districts which are:
- Nyanya
- Karu
- Gwagwalada
- Kubwa, and
- Jukwoyi.
However, the city planner has also created a new district call Keymi district which covers the location of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport terminal and the University of Abuja permanent campus.

Satellite Settlements
In the Abuja City along the Abuja Airport road, now address as Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Express Way.
They are a collection of satellite settlements as part of the cities in Abuja which are Lugbe, Chika, Kuchigworo as well as Pyakassa.
Other satellite settlements you will need to know are Idu (the main commercial zone), Mpape, Karimu, Gwagwa, and Dei-Dei.
However, the Dei-Dei settlement house the International Building materials market of Abuja as well as the International Livestock market.

The Central District
The central district of Abuja has the name implies is the central location of Abuja which consists of both residential and commercial sectors.
We usually consider it as the heart of the city because of its houses three arms zone and the business vicinity of Abuja.
However, the three arms zones are where the governmental administrative office is located.

Garki District
Garki District is located in the southern part of the Abuja city.
the district is divided into two different areas which are Area 1 and Area 2.
If you are moving to Abuja for the first time, then you might find this confusing because of the area differentiation.
However, Garki Area 1 is the main location for commercial use only.
This area house many popular business offices, hotels and most of the administrative office in Abuja.
Garki Area 2 is mainly used for residential purposes only.
However, most commercial structures are also situated in the area even if it only regards residence use.
Wuse District
Wuse district is located in the northwestern part of the Abuja City.
However, you also need to know that the district is divided into seven different zones.
Each of the zones is also addressed as street and part of area 1 where federation agency and ministries are located.
You also need to note that these districts house business including Sheraton Hotel at zone 4 and NAFDAC administrative office at zone 7.
Most of the government agencies and administrative offices in this Wuse districts are located in zone 3.
Besides that, they are also Wuse area 2 which is used for residential purpose and it is different from the Wuse zone 2.

Maitama District
Maitama District is in the northern part of the Abuja City.
If you want to discuss the cities in Abuja then Maitama District is worth mentioning.
However, this is not as one of the cities in Abuja but is part of Abuja city where most of the things happen.
You will be also glad to know that Maitama is one of the most expensive residential areas in Abuja where the top politician, senators, government leaders, and Embassies are located.
This particular district also have worth mention commercial building like the National Universities Commission headquarter, Independent National Electoral Commission, and Nigerian Communications Commission headquarters.
Asokoro District
Asokoro District is where the Aso Rock of the presidential villa is located in Abuja.
However, It is just one of the most exclusive areas of Abuja and top secure area in Abuja city follow by Maitama District.
Besides, these district houses every one of the Abuja lodges.
In addition, the ECOWAS secretariat, all ministers lodge of the federation as well as the diplomatic are located in this District.
