The Chief International Anchor for Cable Network News (CNN), Christiane Amanpour is reportedly battling with ovarian cancer.
The 63years old Amanpour, a war crime reporter and broadcaster of no mean repute made the disclosure on Monday at her London based home studio after going off air for four weeks as a result of the illness.
Amanpour who has spent quality decades interviewing prominent world personalities, said, ”I’ve had successful major surgery to remove it, and I’m now undergoing several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible long-term prognosis, and I’m confident.”
Amanpour explained that she was sharing her story to encourage women and highlight the importance of early diagnosis, and advised women to ”educate themselves on this disease, to get all the regular screenings and scans that you can, to always listen to your bodies and of course to ensure that your legitimate medical concerns are not dismissed or diminished.”
The award-winning British-Irianian journalist born to Persian parents joined CNN foreign desk in Atlanta Georgia as an entry-level desk assistant.

In 2012, she was listed on Forbes Magazine as the 53 most influential women in the world.
In her four decades of journalism, she has covered and reported red spots like Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Rwanda, Afghanistan and interviewed leaders like Moammar Gadhafi and Hosni Mubarak during the outset of Arab Spring.
She has a net worth of $18million and earns an annual salary of $5million with CNN.
According to Medical News Today, ovarian cancer is a cancerous growth that grows in the female body where eggs are produced (ovary).
The ovarian cancer is commonly linked with females in the United States of America and is the fifth most common cause of cancer-related death plaguing women in the US.
The common symptoms of ovarian cancer ranges from pain or pressure in the pelvis, unexpected vaginal bleeding, pain in the back or abdomen, bloating, feeling full rapidly when eating, changes in urination patterns, frequent urination, changes in bowel habits, such as constipation.
